This almost makes me wish Zero's story was the actual Fate Stay Night VN and that the series bounced off from Kerry's story rather than basing it on clumsy VN romance routes. Reminds me of Assassin's Creed's Kenway saga where the sequel-prequel dad character was more interesting than his sons, but had to die early because that's what the first game's canon dictated.
