there's a difference between portraying the ugly side of a character as they fall down into the pit of helplessness and making her le epic EVIL witch who dodges katanas and shoots her friends to death while dancing around all smug-like with little consequences to pulling this shit in the end, if anything she's fucking rewarded by getting good teppei out of it
meguri tried to push more towards the tragic side of the matter, but at the end of the day it's still full of stupid smug looks that make you want to punt her and crazy antics that make her no less ridiculous
if the story was centered more around satokowashi and the deterioration of her mental state instead of being 80% rehashes of old arcs, 40% of which being a rehash of that rehash only now with satoko pulling funny faces in the background, it would've been a far better experience and would've FELT more like a character-driven story, but instead it feels more like it's just there to justify the story happening again but now with slight differences, the inevitable magic battle that ryukishi just had to jam in for some reason, and then loosely tying everything together because fucking why not i guess
