I find them more attractive because they are the "real" appearances of the characters, while the updated portraits are just pretty redesigns.

Hell, I find Maria's original face more attractive for the same reason. She's not nearly as cute, but she's the real Maria for me. She even looks like an autistic kid, while the stylized Maria is slightly more generic.

It's like when you find a crappy hentai picture that mimics the original artstyle perfectly and find it hotter than a really sexy picture that makes the character look slightly different. The idea that the former could fit perfectly in the world of that anime/manga/VN makes it really hot. It feels "canon" somehow.

That must be the reason I find "that" scene in Higurashi Kira (the one where Rena is taking a bath and the audience can see her naked ass, while Rika and Satoko get to see her tits and hairy teenage pussy) more fappable than any doujinshi.

... Yeah. K1 would be proud of me.

I guess trying to get those sprites naked would make them look really disgusting. Satoko was hot because of the situation itself. She was running for her life and was forced to withstand the shame of being butt naked. But I doubt even Ryukishi himself could draw Jessica naked without her arms looking like gross human sausages.

I have spoken much about Bernkastel's origins and how she is not Rika, nor entirely related to her. I assume that I have a comprehensive understanding of Bernkastel's origins.

Bernkastel was born out of the collected negative memories of Rika over the 100 year journey from Hanyuu. She did this twofolds. Firstly, to give Rika a greater fighting chance to eventually defeat fate. Everything Rika represents, Bernkastel is the opposite in every way. This is because Bernkastel is the cynical portion of Rika as she started to lose hope.

At the beginning of ep 7, there is a faceless person talking directly to the reader. In the manga, this person is shown to be a Rika lookalike, however, she does not seem to have a name. In Rei, Rika wakes up in an alternative kakera where everything is perfect for everyone except for her. Rika goes on a drunken rant and accepts that her 100 year journey has made her different from the original Rika. She dubs her kakera hoping personality 'Furuderika Bernkastel', a combination of the wine and herself, as children do not drink wine.

After the events of Rei, Hanyuu says that she has a new friend but refuses to say who it is. Clearly, this is the Rika lookalike, now named Frederica Bernkastel. Hanyuu was the one who purposefully thew Rika into that world. And contrary to popular interpretation, that kakera is not a kakera but a dream. Because Hanyuu enforces to Rika that it was a dream, people have suspected that perhaps it did happen, but this is unlikely. A kakera can only change so much due to Lambda setting up the game. All events until a decade before the events of the story are fixed. There are some variations, but causality is fixed. As such, the changing of gender of someone 8 generations ago, from male to female, to make Rika the 9th generation instead of 8th is something completely outside the gameboard. For those reasons, it proves that Hanyuu created a dream to put Rika into.

Hanyuu did this for two reasons. She wanted Rika to appreciate the value of having one life, and to give the Rika lookalike a true identity so that she might finally have a friend. However, Frederica Bernkastel rejected this prison, broke her chains and ventured into the meta to destroy whatever hope she could find.

Bernkastel is essentially the worst aspects of Rika that was denied a happy ending. A complete opposite of Rika in every way. A monster who deserves nothing less than dead. And the funny thing is that she knows that. She confidently opens her arms to anyone who wants to kill her and desires it.

Rika told of her poems to K1 but it's not known if she signed them. There is a poem that shows that Rika is not the creator of the poem.

>I am who I am; Frederica Bernkastel.
>Furude Rika and Frederica are different. Shame on you if you thought so.
>My age? I've gotten bored with it, so I've quit counting.

>Huh? Are you speculating that the real identity of the Oyashiro-sama is me?
>Giggle giggle. You are so insolent.
>The Oyashiro-sama is the Oyashiro-sama. You want me to introduce it to you? It's rather shy.
>It gets frightened easily so don't scare it, okay? >However, it seems that you are the one that's scared.

>Giggle giggle giggle...

More like something I don't believe but pokes its head at times that makes me believe it exists.
I'm just like Rika, endlessly cynical but pointlessly always hopeful and optimistic for no reason.

Sometimes you need to lie to yourself enough times for it to become the truth. And knowing how to obtain happiness doesn't mean people follow it, either out of laziness or lack of determination.
