Her original design was pretty bad so she had that debuff.
She was also pretty odd compared to the rest of Sankisei, when you're competing with Pekora, Marine, Rushia, and Noel and not really doing anything to set yourself apart, you'll fall behind.
I think if she had more a tomboyish design she would have succeeded, but she wanted to be cute, not cool so trying to be something you're not also fell flat. She's an otaku who acts like a nerd and talks about nerdy things.
