Well, the core rpg gameplay is samey as any other rpgs out there. I'd say one "unique" thing about Abyss Front/Dark Boom/Black Surge Night (please for the love of god, pick a title and stick with it devs) is the abyss function where you can abyss a ship for more edge and stats.

There's also a map system where you take over enemy ports to progress in the main story. However, enemies can "invade" a port you have previously taken and kinda forces you to make a defense team to defend the targeted ports or let it be taken over by the enemy and take it over again. Even after completing the entire map, there will still be enemies outside the map to send their forces to invade your nodes.

Aside from those, you have PVP, abyss leviathan (daily missions), challenge missions (inc. restrictions for factions, ship types, specific ships, etc.) for skins, guild/alliance raids, ruins for farming ships, lightning sea (think it's like a tower system), etc.

Events are also varying since these devs love to experiment. One event could have a raid-like mechanic where you spam a boss to reduce their HP (while farming currency to buy stuff from the shop) and another event can have you clearing a fog (by also spamming a node several times). Some events are more tedious than others, especially that dumb fog one.

Gacha-wise, the rates are okay-ish. 4% for an SSR and 10% for SR. No guarantee SR and above in a 10-roll. For limiteds, pity is at 15 10-rolls to buy the limited ship in a separate shop.

There is a UR rarity where it requires you to do "analysis missions" with five specific SSR ships. Getting 100% on all five will give the UR ship so it's a long-term investment for just one ship. The only one right now is Yamato which requires Shoukaku, Zuikaku, Yuudachi, Akagi and Kaga.

Aside from all those, everything else are things you've seen before.
