Yeah Danny is absolutely the worst representative for basically anything. Dolls. Japanese culture. Running a business. I have several Smart Dolls and I enjoy them, despite their posing being not great they are very photogenic and also an easy-access option for tan dolls will never be a bad thing. But this man... is why I got all of my SmD second-hand.

The dolls are (were?) alright -- pros and cons like any other brand. Everything around them is absolutely bonkers, from the die-hard fans to Danny himself. There's a thread on the doll dreaming forums about Danny that's over 100 pages long, man is a real piece of work.

Thing is, they're mostly only popular in certain circles -- overall DDs are still more well known in the west by virtue of being made by Volks. SmD caught on with the American Girl crowd (no shade to them,) and they're kind of viewed more like playline dolls than they are adult collectibles -- which is unfortunate, because between the vinyl options, I'd say they're the most fragile overall. The arm joints are manufactured in a way that causes them to be vulnerable to splitting apart, and while you can usually pop them back together, if something chips, you need replacements (which are again hard to obtain because Danny doesn't just... sell parts normally like anyone else.) It's kind of unfortunate, but Choo is a dick, so mostly it's funny.

I feel bad for the dolls because they're nice products and the staff who aren't Danny are actually talented. As far as vinyl goes there aren't many other options for male dolls or darker/fantasy skintones, either -- Volks sun skin and CM bodies exist but are trapped in Doll Point because fuck anyone who isn't living in Japan, and since Obitsu discontinued their 1/3 range options have only gotten slimmer for male bodies of any kind. If Danny would just be a normal motherfucker and sell them directly instead of doing limited run unannounced lootboxes for only his biggest fans, he would literally print money. Instead, he's alienating everyone but his whales, and eventually they're going to bleed out.

The dolls would be nice on their own, but since Danny cannot stand to not shove his ego down everyone's throats, they're unfortunately overshadowed by this narcissistic manchild.
