Alright, the current checklist looks like this:
- Change PC98 emulator from Anex86 to Neko Project II, pre-configured to run Touhou well
-> Also include pre-patched TH04
- Include the DX8 to DX9 converter as a separate ZIP
- Replace as many files as possible with original CD rips
- Include the key remapper as a separate ZIP
- Clean up the TH06 folder and update its readme section
- Include re^H^Hdifferently-mastered TH06 soundtrack as a separate ZIP
- Add links to a few more resources in the readme

Anything else? If not, the thread will die quietly, but rest assured I'll be working on it, so look forward to it whenever Hyouibana finally comes out.

She's a "youkai-like youkai", and was probably a lot less restrained and more violent back in the day - but then, so was everyone. Gensoukyou, and the world in general, used to be a much more brutal place, and she was able to to stay at the top of the food chain during those times. Of course that reputation precedes her.

"In the lore", the only indication of her being brutal in modern times are some comments in the Gensoukyou Chronicle, which is known for being exaggerated. Still, even Akyuu says that she wouldn't bother hurting a human without serious provocation. From the rest of her entry, and all the stuff from PoFV, it seems like she's an older youkai who's come to appreciate more refined pastimes than old-fashioned brutality: gardening, danmaku battles, and teasing others with the kind of smug satisfaction that come from knowing that you could crush them with one hand.

A lot of the 'edginess' and ultra-violence you see associated with her is fanon.
