Kanon was never actually there. Shannon, Kanon, Gaap, and Beatrice are all personalities created by a master personality named Maria who was the baby that fell off the cliff and survived. Maria dresses up as Shannon (and Kanon) when she needs to, and has been furniture for so long that she created personalities that love Jessica and George, while the main personality yandere-loves Battler so much that she had to create a witch just to spend time with him in some non-corporeal realm and a game in order to hide the fact that her benefactors and the source of her super-love-hate feelings, the Ushiromiyas, are actually greedy and insane people.
