meh i wouldn't argue it isn't. I barely consider He, Malegoat and Cap'n Jazz "real emo", but really good indie rock with math rock elements. Real emo would be stuff like The Appleseed Cast or Rites of Spring, but I've had this discussion enough on /mu/ and arguing what is and isn't in a broad genre is pointless.
