Why is this so critically acclaimed? Takumi is an interesting protagonist, but all that development goes down the drain when the magic starts to become more prominent. And all of the characters save Takumi are pretty poorly developed with irrational or incomprehensible motives.

Scary + guro + Shinji Ikari in heat = best VN of 2008? I'm not seeing it.
