imo order of importance
>manufacturer/brand (brand is a PITA to sort out like AXB/Zelex/Autome or DH168/D4E/Piper/Irokebejin but it is super helpful for people to know this)

The hardest part for myself was learning who the real manufacturers were. After that is which vendors are trustworthy and resell manufacturers vs. knock offs. Last and not by any means least, sculpts.

At some point it is really up to them to figure stuff out. Keeping it simple is probably more important than details that can be worked out in a guide from celesdolls or TDC, etc.
