I always pictured George as being somewhat stout, but not full-on fat. None of the official art portrays him as being overweight like his father or Nanjo. The comments made by Eva and Shannon which people use to push his "fat" image seem to be pointing more towards him being slightly out of shape if anything. I think Episode 4 of the manga does a good job with his portrayal, making him more stocky without being obese nor a slim bishonen.
