Keep the 100 years per tail in mind.as they should have 11 tails when they are 1000 years old, counting the initial tail of an ordinary fox.

No idea what is the exact source as they;ve said "traditional folklore", it might not be from wiki but some external source, by someone who actually done his/her research and didn't attend to special kids class in math.
