Major governments aren't going to care about a weird looking but not overtly dangerous girl running around the world with an American who doesn't have a criminal record. My Waifu would be someone relatively human looking, so she wouldn't be a target for experimentation like an Ushi-Oni or someone super inhuman. It's possible other groups will try to capture us though. At least it doesn't take a lot of magic to make science slightly more cooperative.
