I'd say you're over-estimating it or at least looking at it through nostalgia goggles.

X Japan once filled the Budokan, but that was 25 years ago, same with Metallica or Megadeth. They might headline Summer Sonic but there's no way that they're going to fill the Budokan or Saitama Super Arena as solo acts, Babymetal did, otherwise it's nothing but idols.

For sure, it's not 1999 with nu-metal at its peak so of course they or any other metal band aren't going to sell-out stadiums in murrica.

But for metal, the language barrier isn't a problem especially when most vocalists are incomprehensible even in English. The fact that they're Japanese is a strength and not a barrier, it adds a "exotic" element to people in Europe & the Americas.

I don't shit on Maiden but... I don't really care for them either way? Same with all the classics and early thrash metal, some people act like you HAVE to listen to [insert 70s/early 80s band here] and love it unconditionally otherwise you're not into real metal, and that's just silly.
