I don't know what to tell you, but that ain't the 'craft.
If you did download it correctly, there should be a .minecraft folder on your PC, where you chose to install it.
You will also need Java v8 or something, which might be a pain to get working because 1.12 is a fairly old version and they haven't used JS8 for years, so you might have to download that again. Assuming you haven't already though.
It's really hard to explain what you should do without seeing your hard drive, but I'm going to take a wild shot in the dark here and say you don't know all that much about computers, which makes things ten times harder.
Look up a tutorial or something, because it's impossible to lead you through installing minecraft like this i'm afraid.
