in case any anon wants to try watching VR without a headset, i found a solution. it was actually pretty easy, but i don't know if it's the best way to do it (probably not).
i just downloaded a VR player that explicitly states that it functions well for desktop use and is free, which was whirligig, watch through fisheye, then pressing "y" until i found what looks good to me.
i'm sure there's a better way than this but until then, this is probably how i'm going to go about things.
