These devs would probably warn players if they were going to reset skills and slots. I get why you think that's likely but the intent of that mechanic is probably just to make life easier for the whales and veterans, since they will have lots of girls that need upgrading, but have also gotten more dupes.

They must know they will get some blowback from players if they spring surprise downgrades on them.
