Ranking really depends on your server. I'm on Palau, getting top 500 once a quarter doesn't require much grinding. I just do all EOs and ranking quarterlies then grind 1-5 with DEs to keep a buffer. If you're on a more competitive server, it might be way worse and not worth the effort.

My only knowledge of KanColle prior to trying it came from bitter Touhoufags in other /jp/ threads. I also have no particular interest in naval history, so I didn't see much appeal in the concept alone. I only ended up trying it because a friend played it. I don't really regret starting late, because I'm not sure I would have appreciated it as much, and consequently stuck with it, had I tried it much earlier.
