I don't think I'm interpreting 「大して面白い舞台を作った試しもないのに」 here right. As well as what とりあえず is functioning in the previous sentence.
I'm understanding the previous as "Since the person's work was belittled by the members of drama club, they decided to start from the beginning", but the following sentence doesn't make sense with it. Any help?
