Arc 1: Everyone already knows what happened. Read the manga if you don't.
Arc 2: Takeshi finds old camera. He takes photo of his class and some unknown girl shows up on it. Turns out the camera can take ghost photos.and girl is no onther than Marie. Weird thing is, nobody remembers her. It's because of the 1st-ranked youkai of the school, "The principal" who can erase any dead human's existence from everyone's memory.
"Principal" wants to take camera back and Takeshi thinks that's ok but just out of curiosity asks what would happen if he refused. Bad move. Gets almost killed but Higanbana saves him. Higanbana vs Principal MAGIC BATTLE. Principal forfeits but asks what would Takeshi prefer, truth or peace of mind. Truth. Another bad move.
Higanbana forces Takeshi to invite her to his house for tea. There she makes him remember another girl. Surprise, it was the girl that framed him some time ago and he drove her to suicide with as revenge later. Her existence was erased too since ruckus at school would be bad for youkai. Higanbana summons her from hell and tells them to kill each other. If Takeshi gets killed his soul will be devoured and Youko will be pulled from hell and will work for Higanbana. If Youko gets killed Takeshi survives. Buuut. They don't want to. They ask each other for forgiveness and nothing happens. Youko returns to hell, Higanbana is pissed. She tries to devour Takeshi but Marie interferes and almost kicks Higanbana's ass. With the last frame left in the camera Takeshi takes a ghost photo of beautiful Youko.
