I dunno. With dogs it's like 5 minutes of pets and then they run off to bark at something or lie down next to you. My 3 cats are bigger petting addicts than all the dogs I ever owned.
They try their hardest to keep my lap occupied, there's even kind of a rotation system in place. They follow me around the house, just waiting for when I sit down. They literally force their heads into my hands. Even now.
