That and how socially acceptable and mainstream the interest is. Love to binge watch shows on Netflix? normal. Love to Read through various different otokonoko themed manga? some shoujo or cgdct like gochimon usagi desu ka? or maybe magical girl anime like card captor sakura or madoka magica? not normal.

Society judges you, based on what's popular in the current day. So naturally you have to act accordingly and hide your interest in something if it's not socially accepted in the mainstream.

the internet these days is like car dealership or a rental property website.

Your an average joe who wants a cheap shitbox for 2 or 3k and a crappy studio apartment for about 200$ a week. But all the car dealerships want to sell you a 30,000 honda jazz with fancy meme tech you don't want or need. And the first results you always get spammed with are houses for 1.2M or rental properties for 450-900$ a week.

4chan is this nice albanian/euroman whos a bit shady who tells you he has a 30 year old nissan he'll sell to you for 2.5k, and his cousin has a place you can stay in that's got a leaky faucet and it's only 250$ a week since someone died in it.

It's not fancy, but it's what you were looking for, and you can't find it anywhere else.
