Cause they are tsundere smart loli or mature babes of unsurpased beauty: they're perfect and immortal girls...

We (3D-real) are no neccesary in our world, since we're here merely by hazardous (non-teleological) circumstances. Unlike us, fictional characters DO HAVE purposse for their (aesthetic) existence, wich is the one the author gives to them. A beautifully constructed character will never fail or die; those girls beauty will never decrease, and even if they get sick or die they'll remain uncorrupted, since hers is a meaningful death and they actually keep on existing (re-born) whenever their story is told and listened once again...

TL;DR
Such things (concepts) as "true love", "soulmates" or "destiny", only verify their existence aesthetically; so I find much more honest, accurate and safe to deposit romantic feelings towards (2D) fictional characters.
