I really don't understand it because in a lot of cases the compressed result can become significantly larger than the original gif.

6.05mb for the converted .webm with as little quality loss as possible
Twitter is the only one that came in ahead at 130kb for a half-duration video

They definitely had to have the original on hand to upload and work on it in the first place, and .psd fanbox/patreons are all the rage these days and those filesizes get ridiculous.
