I want to be a mercenary hired by a merchant to keep his caravan safe and end up fighting a band of brigands come to rob it, ending with me putting up a good fight against them and holding out for long until they eventually overwhelm me and leave me to die with fatal wounds on the roadside as a grisly warning to anyone who travels through, only to survive and come out of a coma a few days after thanks to an Elf mage who found and rescued me and brought me back to her tree house to nurse me back to health. As thanks I swear to become her bodyguard and get better gear.
