I think it’s a unique idea for humanity not being the dominant species in the setting and could make a lot of sense if humanity as a young race was dominated by the older and more established races. As for players being humanity fuck yeah-fags you could just as easily have most of the population happy and not really wanting as John the farmer just wants to harvest his crop and sell it to buy presents for his children’s birthdays thus leaving them with allies in criminals who’d betray them in a heartbeat and power hungry officials who’d do the same.
