I honestly have no idea what to think on the matter.
Though it does explain why Hanyuu was so desperate for Rika to stay alive, not just because she didn't want to be lonely but because Hanyuu would actually die.
So long as the Furude family exist, she would remain a ghost, but if it vanishes, she would die. Rika was just lucky enough to be the 8th girl in line to see Hanyuu.
If she was a boy, Hanyuu would simply not be able to interact with her.

It also sounds similar to how the ghost in Higanbana work using the rumors as a measure of their power.
It's funny how similar Witches, the Yuukai and Gods/Aliens work.

I wonder if Ryukishi is trying to unite this in a coherent fashion.

The anime mentions Hanyuu comes from the M37 system.
I seriously can't wait for WtC5 now

Which will lead to hopefully interesting information on the next WtC.

My prediction is that the next WtC is going to basically be Higurashi in space. Where villages are moon colonies but with three different planets/moons that have weird things happening in them and Oyashiro is replaced with ''stories of old Gods in space'' or traces of an ancient alien civilization or something.

Bern treats her like shit but Bernkastel still considers her '' my ideal representaion of myself'', it's pretty much the definition of a mary sue. You're too focused on the aspect of Bernkastel hating Erika rather than what she represents.

Not to mention the part where Bern says that she will put her in a hole no one will remember likely refers to authors who get rid of characters meaninglessly and without care.

The family only thinks Erika is a cunt in ep 6 after she's shown not to give a fucking fuck about figuring out the mystery and just goes for the lowest denominator by simply finding the only person without an alibi and claim it is the culprit rather than prove who is the killer with facts and evidence.

The Higurashi arc will focus on Hanyuu's clan apparently.

Rika mentions in Higurashi that Hanyuu's clan came to Hinamizawa a long time ago which drove the villagers paranoid. Hanyuu changed the way she looked but only kept the horns. So it's likely that she didn't look human at all. Rika also says that no one knows how they got there, be it by ship, traveling through dimensions or some other unknown way. So there may be some truth to the alien conspiracy by Takano but it might just be a coincidence.

I wouldn't be surprised if we get mention that Hanyuu's clan came from the M37 cluster in the next Higurashi arc and one of the locations in the next WtC takes place in the M37 cluster with characters mentioning that old gods or aliens lived here or something. And that they are cursing the place.

Not to mention possibly seeing the gang again would be great.
