Yes. That's why kickstarter is a hilarious gold mine.

The random internet people giving you money are not actual investors. The website calls them "backers". So you're not contractually obligated to complete your project and such. Kickstarter doesn't even care if you're capable of completing it either (they just look for anything illegal or copyright infringing).
