Because what happened in the first 4 episodes doesn't mean jack shit. It has no weight.
"It's just a dream" sequence is used when the author wants to do some crazy batshit off the wall moments for the shock factor and hype but then doesn't want to deal with the consequences.

Same thing with this. Battler loses in the second episode, he gets told how magic works, submits..... but then a nah senpai all good let's keep going.
That's like having two people play russian roulette only to find out the bullet was a blank. And then they decide to play again. Totally killed any belief in any tangible stakes.

It wouldn't be bad if it was 20 hours long. Then I could stomach a weak story. But having this stretch out sooo fucking long with needless detail really fucking killed it for me.
Awesome concepts, horrible execution. This story needs a proper editor to come in with a cleaver and hack away all the useless parts. And then repaint the retarded design choices.
And even still you will have a story with a lying premise who wants to goad you for it's entire lenght, but at least it wont be such a tortures read.
