1. casting off the mercury blood, the red/black was meant to contrast with mercurius
2. meant to give him an inhuman supernatural look to fit the whole "artificial human made for ahnenerbes" thing

1 doesnt make much sense when you think about Finale and Yato, and 2 is kinda weird since the scene is about him becoming himself not Sneks son and not a tool for his plans
either way it got retconned and now ren is blue and looks 10x better

Agree, Gold vs Mercury is truly the most kino thing I've ever read, Three Colors was cool, but not as kino as the previous mentioned.

I don't know if it's intentional but Yato looks a lot older. Rea Route Black Ren looks kinda baby faced with a goofy blank stare.
If they gave him Yato's serious face he'd look so much better. It's a shame because the clothes and dual swords look kinda cool.
