In my opinion idols are good because of how much you can invest in them timewise, they have blogs, tv shows, performances, handshake events and all sorts of other things they do. You also get to play an active role in supporting your oshimen or the group as a whole by buying goods and turning up to events and as a result get to watch them grow.

That's kind of the point there's a girl to fill every niche and in my case and most other fans the girls personality is the most important thing. If I wanted plastic 10/10's I'd follow Korean idols.
