The same was said about Babymetal about how as long as they have singing & dancing girls they'd never be a real metal band.

But yeah, there is just something about Ladybaby that would currently prevent them from breaking through the metal barrier. Mostly their sound, besides Nippon Manju they're not all that heavy. Maybe the weeaboo crowd will get bigger due to all the recent Babymetal copycats and they can thrive in that niche corner...


On the other hand, ironically, Death Rabbits aren't even trying to be metal and/or another Babymetal. Bucho himself avoids the "kawaii metal" label that babymetal first adopted and instead went with "death pop", as well as drawing more form his speecore/gabber/electronic hardcore background than proper metal.

Of course the line that separates those genres from proper metal is a very thin and changing one.
