Shortly after, I was picked up by a white haired tomboyish woman wearing baggy red pants. She wheeled me back in a cart and talked the whole time, but I ignored her. Every bump made my whole body hurt. I wasn't even sure i'd be able to walk again in a month, never mind a week...never mind having kids.
"Maaaaan Yuuka really worked you over huh buddy. I feel for you, but hey, you're lucky because she normally would just kill you."
Yeah... lucky huh.
"Well, maybe she took a liking to you. Well, here you are you."
My parents came out in shock and worry, wondering where I had been the past three days. They helped me off the cart and the white haired woman smacked me in the back and wished me luck. I almost cried from the pain. Later in the day my girlfriend came. I explained to her what happened.
"Are you serious? So instead of getting me the flowers, you were out fucking a YOKAI for three days?? Oh my god you are the worst! AND you missed our anniversary."
She smacked me in the face. Ow.
"We are SO done!"
She stormed out and I didn't even try to argue. I laid there, on the floor, in horrible pain, thinking of what the hell I would do come a week from then.

The sun beat down. I limped along the road, kicking up dust as my leg dragged along. The iron head of the hoe was uncomfortable propping me up as makeshift can. The straw had kept the worst of the sun off my face, but my clothes clang to my body in the heat. Step after step, I climbed the hill in front of me.
