Eurofag here. I've finished composing a mystery, but it will have to wait for tomorrow. It's midnight, I'm going to sleep now. I've never played as the witch side, only the human side, so I am not very confident that this will be a good mystery. Hopefully I'll get some ideas on how to further improve it before sleep.

I think this direction makes a lot of sense for the series. Doesn't really make much sense in universe, unless it's some kind of far off future, but in terms of Ryukishi's past works this is a step that I was kind of hoping for and expecting. Rose Guns Days had a lot of combat scenarios, and Ryukishi only really leaned into sci-fi for a few specific things in Higurashi. It even gives him the opportunity to create a different kind of conspiracy mystery.

I simply don't know enough to decide if this really is vastly different from the previous works outside of the sci-fi stuff. My main hope in that regard is that the setting feels special in the same way Hinamizawa and Rokkenjima do.
