"Cooled off yet?" Reimu asked sharply. "I'm happy to leave you in there for a while longer if you aren't." She looked over at Miss Yuuka, who was speaking quietly to Elly. "You too, Yuuka!" Miss Yuuka looked up at her for a moment, smirked, then went right back to talking to Elly. "I've got better things to do, you know." She growled. "You're both lucky that Yamame fetched me when she did. If you'd actually started a fight, you would both be getting beaten." I had a feeling that neither participant thought that Reimu's scenario would have played out that way, but they seemed happy enough to let it lie.

Lady Hecatia breathed in and squeezed her eyes shut. Five seconds passed, and she exhaled. "Yep, totally calm. Cool as - Well, not Hell." Reimu watched her for a second longer, than dispelled the ofuda she'd used to seal her. "Could have broken it." Lady Hecatia muttered under her breath, very quietly. "Hey, Junko! Give me a few minutes, alright? I've gotta talk to my - Hopefully - New subordinate." She turned toward me. Behind her, I saw Reimu dispel Miss Yuuka's seal, and she said something to Reimu that made the Shrine Maiden grit her teeth angrily. "Alright, we gotta get this done before there's any more distractions." I'd been thinking that about the ring in my pocket all night, and it still didn't seem to be happening. At this rate, I was going to have to revise my decision and say that Yamame wouldn't make it another night without a ring on her finger. "Let's go around the back. It should be quieter, right?" I nodded, then led her through the snow so we could skip the stalls for a moment, finally reaching the pathway between the Main Shrine and the back of the Shrine.

"So...Huh. It feels recent, but it was...Like, months ago that I offered you that job." That was true and it brought me up short. How much time had passed since Eientei, anyway? Lady Hecatia ruffled her hair, the shimmering blue taking on a much curlier shape. "Got any questions?" She asked me with a raised hand. I did, I replied. First and probably the most important, I wanted to know if I'd stop being human. "Hah! You know, it's so very human of you to start with that. No, I don't think that'd be necessary. If you were working for someone weaker than me, you might, because it'd probably give you a head start in getting some strength of your own, but I'm a goddess, and a super strong one. Not to mention, you ate a peach from Heaven, right? You've already got a head start in your strength, and that's important in Hell where strength is a factor in everything." I'd figured as much, but it was very comforting to hear that I wouldn't have to give up my humanity.

So...What would I be doing? "You'd be more like...My right-hand man. Like..." She trailed off, leaning her chin on her hand with a bit of an awkward expression. Blankly, I asked what she was about to say. "Well, um...Kind of like a Shrine Maiden." She mumbled. My blank stare only got more blank. "Just, uh, without all the rituals. You'd be able to use some powers of mine, and I'd send you out to do things I need doing. You'd still be just as human as you are now." Well, I thought, that was a weight off my shoulders, even if I wondered what Reimu would think about me taking up a profession that was halfway to being a Shrine Maiden. I was a man, too, so I didn't think that I'd be called that.

And then, would I have to live in Hell? "Nah, not unless you wanted to. I mean, you totally could, but I don't think you'd want to spend so much time away from Yamame, right?" Definitely not. "Yeah, me neither. You two are a very cute couple. So...You can just stick around here. This me can just come and meet you if something comes up. You'll probably spend some time in Hell, though. Red me might get jealous if you spend all your time with this me." I supposed it was okay as long as I wasn't stuck there permanently. I hadn't seen the red Lady Hecatia for a long time, either. I saw the blonde one in my dreams sometimes, usually followed by Doremy Sweet trying to shoo her away. It only happened sometimes, and I hadn't even realised that I remembered it until just now. I wasn't even sure it was real and not an actual part of my dream. "Anyway, you'll be representing me in things. It shouldn't be too bad, but...Well, you might have to do some fighting. Just sometimes." I supposed I could handle that if I was trained up enough. Reimu probably wouldn't be happy about it, though. "Oh, don't you worry about that. When I'm through with you, you'll be giving Reimu a run for her money." That sounded like a very lefty claim.
