Why do you think this? He was the MC of a ZUN book and it shows his personality, unlike characters who have had barely any development or zero development like Koakuma or Utsuho or Parsee.

And can you list the works where he's a self insert? Because in most works, he has a very clear personality which differ slightly in portrayal with each artist, much like every other Touhou character. Ogami Kazuki's Rinnosuke, for example, is subtle and elegant, especially when he's teasing the other party.

Would you like to give me a valid reason? SakuRem doesn't have anything that invalidates SakuRin. Personally, I don't like SakuRem too much because I find it a bit boring romance wise. I like some stories that involve Sakuya's loyalty being tested, or exploring their relationship. But any blatant shipping between them is just dull. Maybe it's because of the masterxservant setup that makes it lackluster. Like, I've seen it before, and it's not getting better. I just find Sakurin move appealing because it's untested grounds, and the way those two are similar in looks, personality, and traits is just really appetizing to see them together.

Though, saying that, I kind of like MeiRemi and PatchyMei.

I think Rinnosuke would make for an elegant lover.

Of course. Sakuya is in love with Rinnosuke with the intentions to make him her husband-butler so she would be able to be with him while still working for Remilia.
