hard to say really seeing as we don't know, it would probably work best but who's to say Reimu doesn't have inherent powers from her bloodline? Even if she didn't, at this point it seems better to keep her as a shrine maiden looking after Gensokyo then to cut her lose to god knows who she turns to if she needs spiritual power, we've already established gods are far from the only way of getting it and it's not like Reimu is short on youkai 'friends' who may want to capitalise on something like that.

Furthermore, Reimu seems to be a key part in the Hakurei border which I imagine he wants to keep up. Cutting off Reimu from her divine power is probably a last resort and for all her failings she does do her job for the most part, she's just not very good at the whole shrine maiden part of her job. She's just talented at kicking a whole lot of ass.

TH06: Vampire bitch lays down a challenge to Reimu
TH07: Ghost bitch steals spring to selfishly try and resurrect a random stranger she doesn't realise is herself.
TH7.5: Oni bitch uses powers to make everyone party endlessly for her own reasons.
TH08: Moon bitches replace the moon to hide from home, don't care about the effect this would have on the local residents.
TH09: Bitch royal, flowers are blooming out of season and the locals pressure Reimu, who doubts it's a problem, to investigate. Other bitches decide to check it out as well, everyone beats on one another because they learned it from Reimu.
TH10: New shrine bitch directly threatens Reimu on order of her god bitches. Reimu lays down the hurt on them all.
TH10.5: Celestial bitch causes trolls all Gensokyo. Another bitch royal ensues.
TH11: God bitches set up some Raven bitch with nuclear powers, Raven bitch thinks she's it and worries everyone ending with other bitches pushing Reimu to solve it.

Any wonder Reimu fights most youkai she sees on sight? Nothing but trouble, the lot of them. You too Nitori... people think you are sweet but the whole 'attack you so you'll run away' thing doesn't hold.

Reimu is Touhou's flagship character, instantly recognisable with a attractive simple design. She also scores points for being a unconventional heroine; where one would expect a polite helpful shrine maiden keen on the power of friendship, we get Reimu; a lazy easy going miko who treats everyone the same regardless of actual strength or status. Not quite a anti-hero in that she seems to care about her duty, but not quite a hero in how she deals with youkai or even people who simply bother her.

Personally I like Reimu, her outlook is amusing in a similar way Marisa is amusing for her odd outlook. Lets face it, part of Touhou's charm is the quirky characters and the way they seem to provoke one another on per purpose. Is it any wonder Reimu is so aggressive in such a environment? Bitches need to know who is on top and as far as Gensokyo is concerned Reimu is top dog. Both in popularity and in danmaku.

Dear /jp/. After hating on Touhou for a long time I finally tried your games. I found them fun and like them... a lot. I still don't get the appeal of the characters and their frilliness continues to annoy me. Nevertheless, I'm willing to meet you halfway.
