Funfact: If you ever see a picture of Murasa with curry, it's because the Japanese associate foreign sailors with curry.

British sailors in their cute little outfits would sail from India to Japan and brought curry with them to eat. Curry is not native to Japan and was brought there by the British. It's considered a foreign, western food.
This is also why Japanese curry is very different and has less "flavors" than traditional Indian curry. The British sailors would just grab a bunch of different spices in India and throw them together to make curry powder. So in Japan, they too use generic "curry powder."

As an American, I have to agree with you.
It is far too easy to kill people with firearms.
Obtaining them is even easier. I once met a gun-fanatic, at my university, that believes residence hall leaders should be able to carry firearms (for keeping the peace).

Why pick up a martial art or install a security system when you can just buy a shotgun?

It all comes down to laziness/convenience.
