Yeah sure when Mami and Ami are flat nobody gives a shit but Chihaya gets relentlessly bullied.

Pretty disgusting.
You're all terrible producers.

There's nothing wrong with being xenophobic.
It's a cultural defense.

And how is she going to lose her voice exactly? Life isn't a soap opera where people suddenly develop amnesia to reset the plot.

I happened across an interesting article by NRI, a research firm that studies the demographics of otaku culture to help companies and the Japanese government make correct policies for the future. They examined the populations of different kinds of active otakus in Japan, such as fans of comics and manga (3.5 million), anime and moe otakus (1.1 million), lovers of idols like AKB48 (280,000), PC builders/modders (190,000), high performance car otakus (140,000), and railfans (20,000). The total market for otaku culture was estimated to be about US$4.1 billion as of 2013, larger than the market for digital cameras in Japan, for example. The article focused on five core types of fans. First was 仮面オタク kamen otaku or ``masked otakus'' who have families and who might share their nerdy hobbies (say, building Gundam models) with their children in a fun and casual way. Next are the ``legacy otakus'' who are very passionate about their chosen field, whether it’s cameras, electronics or the 1960s Thunderbirds show, which had a big following in Japan. Then there are ``multi-otakus'' who have many interests and who pride themselves on memorizing information about each, trading information with each others in threads on the 2ch BBS. There’s a category of ``social otakus'' who focus on forming groups (either online or in meatspace) to share their hobbies and spread their passion to others. The final grouping were ``doujin-kei'' female fans who obsess about doujinshi, BL and games for girls. So, which kind of otaku are you?
