I'm saying that if you feel that a post is so useless that it doesn't deserve any attention than you should not post it. If you feel that way about all of your posts, then I guess that is what I am saying.

Either way, that would not justify the existence of a sage feature.

No, sage means simply means that you post with bumping the thread. That is the only function it has. What is has on a connotative level is different however. That is simply the reality.

It's purpose is to not bump threads as I said. It's for the BBS because you have every thread available with its post count available to you at all times.That is not the case on an imageboard in this formt who's content is ultimately decided for the first page, maybe couple pages. There's really no reason anyone should have for not bumping them here.
