I did, but that wasn't the point. I was asking the logic behind giving the third place player even more Dora tiles. And to say that there isn't any merit in playing defensively in the right situation is downright silly. I won't deal a Chun against someone who's got a set of Haku and Hatsu, even if it'll break my Tenpai.

In your case, it was probably more that there was nothing to lose by doing so. She couldn't steal a win off your Kan unless she had Kokushi, and if you got 4 Dora from it you'd maybe be able to make a comeback, or at least get out of last place.
