In public groups everyone is a strangers at first, but people become friends over time due to similar interests. For me it's not even about making friends per se but getting familiar.

I sometimes want to interact with kigs and kig lovers but not necessarily become friends, especially when I'll never meet them in real life and live half a world away, but I like to talk and share content.
