Finished 2 routes in Tsuyokiss, Kinu and Erika/Hime. First of all: Yay for Wakamoto.

It's pretty clear how Majikoi evolved from this and to be honest, I feel like it evolved too much. The "big sister" turned from just being very strong but still feeling close enough in this to being inhuman, possible breaking you into two halves accidentally and just being SUPER out of reach in Majikoi. As such one of my main issues of Majikoi isn't in this: Tsuyokiss remains much more grounded. Even the most unreachable girl doesn't feel too far away.
While that's nice, the girls are still not very interesting as traditional heroines. Great characters, but I feel like the game is at its worst when it tried to do romance instead of its other stuff. And unlike Majikoi I feel like romance is more pronounced here. Or rather, nothing else really happens.

Both routes had a similar structure. Pretty much 3 arcs: excursion, sports and final drama. For Kinu I had fun until the final drama arc started which was pretty dumb. I feel like I've read the same thing before as well. Just hope that wasn't Wanko's route in Majikoi, that would be kinda sad. Once that was over the game had 1.5 months or so of random short events, similar to how Cation games are plagued by way too many short and lackluster events. I know I know, girl needs her H, but seriously. Talk about boring. The game skips some days, but this was still way too much random short stuff.
Hime's route actually ended after the third arc, but was generally not very good. The last arc was even super short and had no real purpose in the end. Why did that girl do what she did there? Who knows. Her problem can't have been very big. The route is otherwise plagued by many short events as well, just more spaced out, and generally never touches anything that makes Hime possibly interesting: Her being Hime in the school and the daughter of a rich family owning a pretty big company and all. Yeah, it's literally ignored. What the heck was this route? Fucking Yuzusoft did better ojousama routes in something like Noble Works.

There are good things about this. I mostly like the comedy and the character work wonders when the game doesn't try to do romance, in my opinion. But it really is a mixed bag.
