Well, FKG does restrict itself to plants with flower meanings, but even with that rule they can keep going for a few decades. Nazuna has been tweeting three birth flowers a day for three years now with no signs of slowing (she does repeat flowers, though), you can find a list of these here:

http://フラワーナイトガール.攻略wiki.com/index.php?誕生花 まとめ(ナズナさんのツイートより)#abefe980
(extra challenge: find your birth flower and use its meaning to predict how it would be as a flower knight)

And wow, I looked up the time elapsed between the first teasers of some girls and the dates of their implementation, and I'm going to bet half of us are going to die before Phlox gets into the game.

Water Hyacinth: 42 days
Cacao: 98 days
Saffron: 140 days
Sweet William: 210 days
Acacia: 224 days (this long wait made her into a minor meme for a while)
Peperomia: 261 days
Pot Marigold: 266 days
Unnamed Kannagi Rei girl teased in NND broadcast #6: 425 days and counting
Artemisia: 462 days (actually acknowledged in-game, supposed to be there for Halloween event but got sick)
Kalmia: 714 days and counting
Phlox: 966 days and counting
