I've been having a bunch of green tea, going between gunpowder and caihua mostly. I also have some ceylon left and been going through that a bit too.

All I've had with kelp was from a tin of a powdered form. It smelled like genmaicha, but it tasted more like a broth, savory and a bit salty. Really nice for a cold day.

Yeah, good matcha is unfortunately expensive. Anything that's not a nice brighter green color when you whisk it is really a waste of money in terms of tea for drinking. Making icecream or other things with it might be okay.
