Definitely 3d was hard to get into after drawing a lot of 2d, looking at something like the poseable 3d model in clip studio paint can help
With referencing artists, rather than directly copy, it's more like getting a sense of how they do an aspect (body proportion, colour, linework, etc) and trying to incorporate it in your own work
I guess my main advice is don't be afraid to reference! We all start off not knowing how something actually looks like. It helps to get multiple references (maybe of different angles) of the same thing and trying to understand what it looks like; with more practice it becomes easier to draw on your own!

as someone who (usually) does more paintery/sketchy stuff, I always admire how you manage rather detailed line art! What's your thought process when drawing repetitive stuff like the mushroom queen's frills?
