i hate diminishing returns of learning vocabulary. suppose 2k let's you understand 80% of written text, 4k will bring that up to, say, 90%. not bad, not great. but at 6k you might optimistically get to 95%. so you ask yourself why keep going for such miniscule gains?
but that's a fallacy, for each step decreased your vocabulary ignorance by half.
