> I further don't agree that watching the non-musical videos of Voiceroids and other non-musical banks playing video games in any way attracts people to the Vocaloid music fandom, but that's a separate issue.

I disagree. Pick related is a good case study of how these voiceroid Let's Play things attract people to Vocaloid.

Even my normie friend showed it to me and I was honestly surprised he found it. He said it was funny because it was PUBG and the related video links brought him to more Vocaloid songs. Like the Gyate one with Vocaloids screaming and from there he got recommended Miku and now he's listening to it. Just imagine how much more receptive people would be if you were for example Japanese and already watched Voiceroid videos and THAN you saw the Gyate meme video where they're singing and find his whole library of Vocaloid songs featuring your favorite Let's Players singing genuinely good songs.

A HUGE amount of Vocaloid fans I talk to were introduced to Vocaloid with Triple Baka, which as much as I like I also considered a meme song and of course there is the notorious Ievan Polka and Nya-Cat.They may be more musical based than the Let's Player voiceroids but what I'm saying is the Vocaloid fandom has many outlets and they're mostly all positive.
