He'll just get a little notification that says "someone challenged your fleet and won" or "someone challenged your fleet and lost" so you can't even gloat when you win. The system is also grossly rigged in your favor if you're on the challenger side so everybody wins anyway.

K so basically its a single player game that happens to have some very slight online features. I thought it was more online heavy. That's unfortunate.
